Wind, Life, & Love

Random thoughts on the blog today.

The wind here is crazay, and sounds like it is in a lot of the country! My brother-in-law in FL is getting some wind as well. I dropped off the husband this am at the airport. He shall be landing in gorgeous FL in an hour! Little brother is graduating! Wish I could have gone, but 3 days off work was out of the question with trips already schedule in April :(.

Well just a little thought for life & love today that I have been thinking about a lot lately. How many times do we come to Monday and can't wait for the weekend, or wish 2 weeks would hurry so you can go on that trip, or that date, or class....anything! So many times we wish away our weeks waiting for the next big day. When in reality we need to concentrate on today and make the most of it!( I could get cliche and say because tomorrow isn't always promised)

We need to take advantage of that Monday through Thursday! Those are days to maybe better ourselves, maybe let life slow down and enjoy cooking dinner with that significant other, or watch your favorite tv show together. We need to quit wishing away to the weekend and living for the weekends, why yes they are nice, but we need to take advantage of all of our days! :)

I love my husband. He is my best friend and we are a social couple and are busy a lot on the weekends. I, myself, need to slow down and enjoy time with just us during the weeks more, and not always be on the go on the weekends! Sometimes you have to say no, and it isn't a bad thing. And honestly I see the rewards being that much sweeter!!

I am an animal lover. And we can learn so much from our animals! I think we should all try to strive to look at life like them, we would be a big group of licking, wagging, happy people and take advantage of every day and not waiting for the weekend!

Live Simply.

Love generously.

Care Deeply.

Speak Kindly.

If a dog was the teacher you would learn things like:

When loved ones come home, always run and greet them.

Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.

Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy.

Take Naps!

Stretch before rising.

Run, romp, and play daily.

Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.

When you're happy dance around and wag your entire body!

Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.
Be Loyal.

Never pretend to be something you're not.

If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.

When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close, and nuzzle them gently!

So enjoy today, my friends! We need to take advantage of each day! No need to waste a day when you can be AWESOME

First Things First {Link-Up}

First things first....I am going to get better at my le blog here! I will google tips and be better a taking good photos with my cannon instead of my iphone! Amateur I tell ya!

Okay, anyways back to the link up! I am linking up with Halie and Hallie for First Things First

The First Thing I wanted to be when I grew up
Was to work at United and be a check out girl. What is that you ask? United is a grocery store, a lot like HEB, Kroger, Whole Foods, only in a small town. Yep, high hopes for myself I tell you. I did not want to move up to manager or a more specific job, just a check out girl!  Luckily I became a little more motivated and went to college. Not that college gave me much of an edge or pay raise in the job world after the market crashed! Oh well! :)

It was something about the rollers and bagging I loved!
First Time I flew on a plane
Was when I flew to the Cayman Islands the summer before 7th grade! I remember exactly what I wore for that first time experience! random, I know! This was my family's first big vacation in awhile. See I rodeoed and played basketball year round. My sister was active in sports also, so we were just busy and I wasn't going to miss any rodeos or tournaments! Finally the summer before my 7th grade year and before sister went off to college we went on a trip! It was so fun and the people there were so generous! I loved it to say the least!

My First CD
I honestly have no idea on this one. If I were to guess it was Brittney Spears single Hit Me One More Time. For some reason that stands out in my mind. I do not event remember when CD's came out, but I am sure we still had to listen to them with the cool tape adapter in the cars!

Ever Get Easier?

Another weekend in the books. It seems I only have time to do one post a week now a days and that post always talks about the weekend! ;)

Just another Friday nigt
Well this weekend was a nice little weekend with my Husband! We cooked out Steaks Friday night and had us a little date night! At 8:15 we drove around the ranch to look at animals! :) And much to our disappointment not much was out.

Saturday we left mid morning and headed to SA for a little shopping and horse racing! We met some of my old friends from College that we hadn't gotten to hang out with in FOREVER. We ate dinner at Chuys, I love me some mexican food! Then went on to the horse races!

Chuys
Horse Races
Josh and I never make large bets! We went in with $25 total. and after paying for seats and admission to enter gate I think we had around $12-$14 that we started with to bet on! Our goal was to not have to go to the ATM and we accomplished that! We walked away with $16 :) We don't make any large bets, but we still have fun!

A horse went down on the last race, after the finish line. My body began to shake, my heart sank, and my eyes began to fill with tears. After almost 9 years since I had to make the decision to put the best horse down that I will over own, it does not get any easier to see a horse go down. NOT ONE BIT. It takes me right back to that very night and I feel all the same feelings. As I sit here and type I still hurt and cry. It was probably the hardest day of my life that I have had in my 25 years of life. Through it all, I still look at the path god sent me on with this incident and I couldnt be more blessed with where I am today. Will I ever own a better horse than Showbox, NEVER, but I will be able to learn from each one because of him.  My husband is amazing, because not once does he ever tell me to get over it, or toughen up, or think I am dumb for still getting so upset; instead he comforts me and puts his heart exactly where mine is at that moment and comforts me. He knows how upset it makes me and knows that every day until I probably die when I see a horse get injured It will be hard, and he has to be there for me. Now that my friends is true love and I am so Lucky to have someone who doesn't necessarily understand the horse world, or understand my pain directly but because he loves me he gets it and understands it now indirectly though me. Anyone who reads my blog, has seen the posts, references, and comments of Showbox still to this day.  I pray he is enjoying his life in Heaven and has found someone to love like he loved me and someone has found him! Because he was def a one person horse and blossomed after we purchased him. One day we will meet again, in a much better place.

Showbox-The One & Only- Blessed to own such an amazing animal

A Bitter Sweet Reality

My first true love was horses! Ever since I was a little girl I have ridden horses and it was not only a hobby but it was/has always been a huge part of my life. It didn't define me, but without my horse and riding I would not be me.

As many who know me, a tragic event at the age of 17 changed my life forever. I lost an amazing horse and friend. My horses aren't just a source to run and make money, but they are a way of life for me. They relax me and heal me. Losing him took a toll on me emotionally.

That brings us to Coup! He has been a huge blessing in my Life for many reasons. He is such a great companion. And over the years I have enjoyed hauling him with lots of friends to barrel races and rodeos and made a ton of memories!!

He's been layed off for about a year with a stifle injury (which has been an issue with him for awhile), so I have been bringing him back slowly. It's been so nice to ride again. Although he did not feel back to his old self, he was riding great and enjoyed it. Next plan on agenda was see if he could run/high lope barrels and then sale him!
Well last night that all changed. I rode him Tuesday and he felt wonderful! I had plans to haul him to my neighbors Wednesday and take him around barrels then give him break and just leisure ride Friday and haul him Saturday and see how he felt! Well we must have over did it Tuesday because he was pretty stiff when I got him out of his stall. I was pretty bummed to say the least. I walked him around and he loosened up quite a bit, which made me feel better. But it did prove he probably will not be able to really make runs around any barrels and will just need to be sold as a good trail riding companion horse.
This is a bitter sweet feeling. I am happy I now know where he is with everything, but bummed he won't be able to run again and we won't get to haul anymore. But I know god has a plan for me and him and will place the right person to be his next owner. He is a sweet sweet horse and a great companion. He thinks he is a dog. It will be terribly hard to let him go, but he cannot fulfill what I need him for anymore and horses are not cheap pets. I know he will make someone a happy person because he is one happy horse and enjoys being ridden! So please pray that this next process of selling my big boy goes smooth and I find the perfect home for him! Because he deserves it! All he will do is give a person love and happiness!

My life the past week

So the past week I have been opened up to a whole new world via the internet and I must say I am sad I am so far behind and have missed out. This whole blogging world thing is huge. Now I know mine is not, but some of these girls got it going on! They have "Blacations" and Blog BFFs it's crazay! But awesome at the same time! I have enjoyed following some new blogs! I need to re-vamp my layout though, that is a must. Anywho, a little inside to what has been going on to my life: Back the the grind: Post Wedding Stay in shape mission Began last week
Map My Run App: A MUST! if you enjoy running of course. It is a great way to map out how far you run, time, pace, and calories burned. I enjoy it and it works at my house where I have no service! The GPS is awesome! :) Run 9-10 miles a week is my goal currently :)
Lime-A-Rita: Date night last week turned into a drive through the drive through liquor barn and buying these. You will not be disappointed :)
Weekend Heroes: Just heroes for the day putting out a grass fire near the ranch!
Casino Night: Josh donated a hunt to this fundraiser's live auction so in return we got two free tickets. We drank, gambled with free money, and walked away winning a video camera, 1.5 massage, and 2 free car detailing from the raffle! Over all successful evening!
Celebrated our 1 month yesterday! Josh surprised me with a cake he made (his first ever) and Moscato wine-my fave!
I cannot wait for this new item to come in the mail! :)
Well back to work! Maybe I will be upgraded in my layout next time i post....or maybe I won't if I cannot figure it out!

5 PUPPIES...whaaat?

Josh Calls me last week and verifies that my assumptions over the last few weeks of the ranch dog Lilly being pregnant are TRUE. He called and said "we have 3 puppies..." WHAT? 3 puppies...why couldn't she have just had 1 like last time I thought to myself, mid panic. I was nervous, because she is getting really old, and quit producing milk with Nelson and didn't seem to have much milk before this litter...so to me 3 puppies was going to be tough. And for anyone who knows me, knows I am an animal lover to the max and would want to make sure these pups have milk and are okay, but bottle feeding every 2 hours is out of the question for me and we know boys wouldn't take time for that. AND we were leaving Friday before lunch for the wedding. I told myself she would have milk, and to not get it way. Let nature and her instincts take their course. Then about 3 hours later I get another call from Josh, "Well, we have 5 puppies..." ha you can only imagine the shock in my voice...and face. "5 PUPPIES? OMG IS SHE DONE" "I think so" haha I sure did hope so, and she was.

So there we have it...we have 5 new puppies at the ranch that are now 5 days old. They are so tiny and all little girls! Three black and 2 colored like Nelson! Lilly is a wonderful mom and taking great care of them! She has milk and is doing good, but after this litter we are taking her in to get her fixed. I want no more puppies! I have enough dogs! They are EACH a full time job.

If you know anyone in the market for a dog, send them our way! These little girls are going to be super smart! The mom and dad are extremely smart and Nelson is as well!

Well just wanted to share the news of the new additions to the ranch temporarily...not permanently! :)

Count Your Blessings!

Well it has been a little while! I have been super lazy busy. So this may ramble on!

Things have been up and down in my life lately- mostly up with only one down- that will all work out, but you know what always remeber to count your blessings!I am blessed for everyone I have in my life from my family & Fiance to my friends, & my pets to my job. Seriously tho, I am happy with where I am today! :) Remember that blessings come in all shapes, sizes, and form!! I hope that I am a blessing to all the people in my life that have been there for me so much!! I strive to be a person of strength, honor, hope, and happiness! I may not have all the answers, or always know what to say, but I know God has a plan for each of us! And everything works out! ANd God has put us in eachothers lives for a reason! So remember to take everything in on this journey of life, and remember those that have helped/blessed you through this journey! And repay the favor along to someone else or back to that person when needed!!:)

My parents came down and spent Labor Day with me. We had a great time doing "wedding things" and "ranch things"! Believe it or not, my dad got to experience the amazing cows! haha! Quote of the weekend "If it's meant to be, then it's meant to be, then it's meant to be, or not" haha! We got a laugh out of this one. And it actually became the theme of the weekend! But in reality it is almost the theme of so much that happens in our lives. Yep, my family is quite the inspirational type! haha

This weekend my friend Randi came down! It was so great to catch up Friday night and ride around the ranch. She is such a strong individual and is beautiful inside and out!We went to the Fredericksburg Trade Days! Def got some great buys and cannot wait to refinish some of the items I bought!!!! Oh, I almost forgot she also made me this awesome Cross for my birthday! Along with 4 coasters!

I am going to Aggieland this weekend to see friends, celebrate my birthday, and watch the Aggies BTHO OSU! I get to attend the game with my brother-in-law since my sister cannot attend! I Cannot wait to hear and see the 12th Man and be back to the town that stole my heart many years ago!! :)
