Wind, Life, & Love

Random thoughts on the blog today.

The wind here is crazay, and sounds like it is in a lot of the country! My brother-in-law in FL is getting some wind as well. I dropped off the husband this am at the airport. He shall be landing in gorgeous FL in an hour! Little brother is graduating! Wish I could have gone, but 3 days off work was out of the question with trips already schedule in April :(.

Well just a little thought for life & love today that I have been thinking about a lot lately. How many times do we come to Monday and can't wait for the weekend, or wish 2 weeks would hurry so you can go on that trip, or that date, or class....anything! So many times we wish away our weeks waiting for the next big day. When in reality we need to concentrate on today and make the most of it!( I could get cliche and say because tomorrow isn't always promised)

We need to take advantage of that Monday through Thursday! Those are days to maybe better ourselves, maybe let life slow down and enjoy cooking dinner with that significant other, or watch your favorite tv show together. We need to quit wishing away to the weekend and living for the weekends, why yes they are nice, but we need to take advantage of all of our days! :)

I love my husband. He is my best friend and we are a social couple and are busy a lot on the weekends. I, myself, need to slow down and enjoy time with just us during the weeks more, and not always be on the go on the weekends! Sometimes you have to say no, and it isn't a bad thing. And honestly I see the rewards being that much sweeter!!

I am an animal lover. And we can learn so much from our animals! I think we should all try to strive to look at life like them, we would be a big group of licking, wagging, happy people and take advantage of every day and not waiting for the weekend!

Live Simply.

Love generously.

Care Deeply.

Speak Kindly.

If a dog was the teacher you would learn things like:

When loved ones come home, always run and greet them.

Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.

Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy.

Take Naps!

Stretch before rising.

Run, romp, and play daily.

Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.

When you're happy dance around and wag your entire body!

Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.
Be Loyal.

Never pretend to be something you're not.

If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.

When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close, and nuzzle them gently!

So enjoy today, my friends! We need to take advantage of each day! No need to waste a day when you can be AWESOME

Holy Turkey Loaf

So we live out a bit from town. Good thing is we don't eat out a lot, which is better for you health wise and money wise. Bad thing- we have to cook A LOT! Luckily, with Pinterest around I am always motivated to cook new things and try new things! It keeps it fun, and the husband cannot complain because he does not have to help cook anymore BUT he still helps me clean! What a nice man I have!

So one of my new years resolutions was to "Eat Clean" Well... I really just need to eat healthier Not breads and pastas and butter, no fried foods and frozen foods, etc. The husband on the other hand is not a healthy eater. This can bring up a challenge when cooking, but I always go with a healthy meat (ground turkey, chicken, fish), and then do a veggie for me and something for him! He has adapted to a lot of the dishes well!! He likes ground turkey, and ask long as I chop the onions small he eats them in any recipe! WIN!!

We started meal planning as well, and Thursday Nights menu item was "Turkey Meat Loaf" Well Husband had a couple of friends out yday evening, and I told him "Tell them we are having meatloaf and they are more than welcome to stay but do not have to" I get nervous when cooking first time meals for other people, even if it was just my brother in law and another guy who is always around our house! Anyways, this meat loaf, which was changed to "Turkey Loaf" by the boys, was a hit! They all devoured it and said I can make them it anytime! I wanted to share the recipe for anyone who is interested in trying! Its delicious and healthy! Cannot beat that! Oh, and husband and I never eat meatloaf, so even if you are not a meatloaf fanatic I would still give it a try!

Disclaimer: I only used 1 pound of Ground Turkey, so therefore I adjusted the other ingredients according to using a pound. I do not strictly measure on any recipes, I just estimate a lot!**

Turkey Meatloaf

Ingredients (Yields 6)
1 1/2  pounds  lean ground turkey
         1  onion, chopped
1  cup  fresh flat-leaf parsley, chopped
         1/2  cup  whole-wheat bread crumbs
         2  tablespoons  Dijon mustard
         1  large egg white
         Kosher salt and black pepper
         1/4  cup  ketchup

Directions
1.Heat oven to 400° F. In a bowl, combine the turkey, onion, spinach, parsley, bread crumbs, mustard, egg white, and ½ teaspoon each salt and pepper.
2.Transfer the mixture to a baking sheet and form it into a 10-inch loaf. Spread with the ketchup. Bake until cooked through, 45 to 50 minutes.

I served the meatloaf with mashed potatoes (for the husband) and broccoli

A Best Friend & a Special Birthday

Anyone who knows me, knows my love for my dog, better love my dog. For 3 years it was us two! We were inseparable and he was/is my pal. He's one good dog that I am happy to own!
If you have a second please say little quick prayer for my Rock. His eye, which has always bothered him from time to time, is really bothering him and red and doing weird things. It started last night. We flushed it with saline, which helped, but did not make it overall better come this am. So he is at the vet now and will get in to see the vet around 3:30. I am hoping we can get it figured out and fixed because it is causing him pain right now. Plus, he was just at the vet last week for a cyst. Geez!
Anyways this little guy means the world to me and hope to get his eye figured out today!

Also, a shout out to my daddy for his birthday!!!!!
Thanks dad for EVERYTHING you have done for me growing up, and for Josh and I today! You are the most selfless caring person and we are blessed to have you in our life. You keep us smiling and laughing. You are also my go to for anything and everything! We love you more than words can say and wish we could be there to celebrate this day!

Weekend {Wrap-Up}

A day late, but I made it none the less~

This weekend the husband and I took advantage of him having the weekend off and we went on over to Houston to visit friends! There was a cookoff we planned on attending Friday night and then Top Golf Saturday, with plans of going back to the cookoff to watch a band play we all enjoy!

It has been awhile since the husband and I have road tripped and we had a ball! :) Singing and dancing And Emoji texting with a friend kept us entertained the entire way! Here are some pics from the weekend!

Don't mind the creepy eyes from Iphone pics! We froze our bums off here, but it was fun!

Top Golf! We literally spent 9 hours at this place. We arrived at 2 hoping to leave by 7 to make it to the cookoff, well we did not even get our bay until after 5. So needless to say we were not going to only play for 2 hours after we waited 3! So we stayed...until 11 p.m.

Just Rocky boy and I headed home on Sunday :( The husband stayed back to help a friend move and hunt Monday am before they road tripped back home.
Rock rode Shotgun

Lastly, this is my new purchase. Nike Fuel Band! Say what you will, but I am obssessed! Do not rain on my parade or burst my happy bubble! I understand it isn't an "accurate" calorie counter but it sure is better than not having one!! ANNNND I literally did jumping jacks and ran in place for 15 minutes to hit my goal the first day! I just up'd my goal to 4,000 fuel points so Hope I hit it!!!

And my after work work-out yday! Boom! But my knees are paying for it today, so it was just the elliptical for me this am.

Happy Tuesday All!

Fashion Circle of Life

So a friend and I went on a girls shopping trip Saturday! All I ended up buying was some workout clothes, husband a new iphone 5, and shoes.  Lame? I think so. It is probably even more lame that I am excited about my new Nike Fuel band I am getting today! Oh, how times have changed!

Man, have times changed though. When I was younger, Shopping at Abercrombie was the best! I mean why the heck did we have our parents pay $50 for a tee that said Abercrombie. Dumb

And we thought we had style. Heck it was a tee. That is it haha!

Well Fashion has changed. I would not call it "Fashion Forward" But maybe "Fashion Back"
I kid you not I have never seen so many clothes from the 80's with a little bit of 90's. I mean Denim is BACK! Denim Shorts, Denim Tops, Denim Vest, Demin Hoochie Shirts, and all need to be BEDAZZLED! Yep, I saw a lot of these.

This top is actually Called "Bejeweled Denim Top"
Not to mention, what is she wearing on her legs.

Acid Wash, remember those. Any Acid wash short had to be paired with white high tops. Oh Save by the Bell, you are back. And Trust me I saw a Girl with oversized shirt, acid wash shorts, and white high tops. Yes.

Hmm....Add a Selena Bra and you are set for a night at the club

Then we have this! Remember tying the tops?

...

YES! I even saw these out on a rack! Come on people! We have shirts now where you can pee and not have to unbutton your pants AND your shirt! It is genius i tell ya!

Lots of these. Which some are cute, this pattern is not.

And these remind me of KISS! Not sure why!

So there we have it! Fashion! I may be an outcast, but this is one fashion trend I am going to stay away from! :) I think I may not be the only one!!!

First Things First {Link-Up}

First things first....I am going to get better at my le blog here! I will google tips and be better a taking good photos with my cannon instead of my iphone! Amateur I tell ya!

Okay, anyways back to the link up! I am linking up with Halie and Hallie for First Things First

The First Thing I wanted to be when I grew up
Was to work at United and be a check out girl. What is that you ask? United is a grocery store, a lot like HEB, Kroger, Whole Foods, only in a small town. Yep, high hopes for myself I tell you. I did not want to move up to manager or a more specific job, just a check out girl!  Luckily I became a little more motivated and went to college. Not that college gave me much of an edge or pay raise in the job world after the market crashed! Oh well! :)

It was something about the rollers and bagging I loved!
First Time I flew on a plane
Was when I flew to the Cayman Islands the summer before 7th grade! I remember exactly what I wore for that first time experience! random, I know! This was my family's first big vacation in awhile. See I rodeoed and played basketball year round. My sister was active in sports also, so we were just busy and I wasn't going to miss any rodeos or tournaments! Finally the summer before my 7th grade year and before sister went off to college we went on a trip! It was so fun and the people there were so generous! I loved it to say the least!

My First CD
I honestly have no idea on this one. If I were to guess it was Brittney Spears single Hit Me One More Time. For some reason that stands out in my mind. I do not event remember when CD's came out, but I am sure we still had to listen to them with the cool tape adapter in the cars!

Friday's Letters

Dear Sean T & Insanity, Thank you for kicking my butt this week. I promise to not quit this time, and so far I am further than I have ever made it!

Dear Legs, Blame Insanity. Dear Rain, Oh My Goodness it was so good to see you this week! Please do not wait to so long to come back around. Dear Husband, Why do I have to do all things dealing with computers? You touch the laptop one time and mess up the whole process I was working on for you. But that is okay, you are cute! Dear the Organized Me, I like you! Last for awhile! Dear Rocky, Youz da best! Dear Weekend, cheers to you!

Snow and then Rain

Another Texas winter, It has been so hot, and then boom last week we get snow

And now over 2 inches of rain!  No complaints here though! We needed the moisture soooo bad! Husband kept saying "If we do not get rain it is going to be one drrryyyy summer, and we though 2 years ago was a bad draught" So thank you lord for the rain!

Popcorn would not move under cover during rain, and would just stand in it. Poor Guy! So we moved him into the barn next to missy and dried him off. Note to self: Mini Donkeys do not like being dried off with a towel. Missy Mae is literally obsessed with him. If she can't see him she nickers and freaks out until she can. It is literally like her baby to her. She will be a good mama one day! She is doing better as we go and once we get her away from him more than once a week she will learn it is ok!

What a flop of a Game Monday night. I mean, Notre Dame was claiming all season how they earned to be where they were and this was proving to everyone that they were where they deserved to be in the rankings etc. and then they stuck their big ol' foot in their mouth Monday, ouch. Now I am neither a ND fan nor 'Bama, just wanted to watch a game!

Well we are 5 days into Biggest Loser challenge at work. I have worked out 4 days. Done insanity 3 of those. I skipped yesterday for headache and being tired but made it to gym this am and will be doing my insanity workout from yday! Basically I took my rest day early :) We weigh in ea Friday Ah! I did not know this until this am! But guess it is good to keep me accountable!

I have also started meal planning for the husband and I being we are somewhat on different eating plans. Hopefully planning it out will help! And then beginning of ea week will buy meats for the week! We shall see.

ALSO, while everyone is hooked to the Bachelor, I chose not to watch this week. But my life is now complete with Biggest Loser back on and Pretty Little Liars!!!! I missed last night because the husband and I watched the Avengers, but I will watch online during lunch or tonight on DVR!

Happy Wednesday People!

In with the New

Another day another dollar...well a little short of a dollar now thanks to Obama raising taxes. But that's for the birds! Hope everyone had a wonderful New Years! Husband and I enjoyed it at the ranch with a fun group! We ate dinner, played games, danced, and Husband put on another great firework display!
Ringing in 2013 as Mr & Mrs for the first time!!

New Year's Day consisted of the annual writing of our New Years resolutions and going over last years! I made 3.5 of 4! This year I hope I can go 5 for 5.... But I may be setting myself up for failure being I cannot remember my 5th resolution and it is already sealed and in the safe. Damn. And then Christmas decor came down ad naps were had once the guest went on their way! Oh and black eyed peas were consumed, duh!

Here are my resolutions, I added a fifth one on my own today. Maybe I connected with my inner self and it is the same, but probably not. Alas, my four resolutions plus a new one!:)

I have these two little cuties in my life that guarantee no matter what 2013 will be a great one! and of course, a wonderful husband!
